CHILD PROTECTION

An Coimisiún Le Rincí Gaelacha

Child Protection Officer: Sheila Dupuis – sheiladupuis@gmail.com

An Coimisiún Le Rincí Gaelacha believes the safety and welfare of children and young people is of paramount importance and is committed to taking every appropriate step to ensure the safety and well-being of the children and young people with whom we engage, regardless of class, gender, race, creed, age or ability.

We have a ‘zero tolerance’ policy regarding abuse, intimidation, bullying (physical or emotional), racism and sexist behaviour directed towards children and young people. An Coimisiún Le Rincí Gaelacha acknowledges the right of children and young people to be treated with respect at all times, to be listened to and have their views taken into consideration in matters that affect them.

Designated Liaison Persons for CLRG

The role of each DLP is to help a teacher determine if a situation meets the legal requirements of reporting child abuse (physical, sexual, or emotional). DLPs do not investigate the complaint or concern, they are only responsible for reporting the suspicion of abuse to the proper authorities (i.e. Child Protection Services, Department of Child and Family Services, Tusla Child and Family, etc.).

If a registered teacher has a concern about the safety of one of their students, they should contact their region’s/council’s DLP to determine the next steps. If the concern involves a registered teacher or teaching assistant, the concern should also be reported to the CLRG chairperson, the CLRG child protection officer, and Coiste Faire.

Please see contact information below for your region’s DLP.
