An Coiste Oireachtaisí organises the two major events in the annual Irish Dancing calendar: Oireachtas Rince na hEireann (The All-Ireland Irish Dancing Championships) and Oireachtas Rince na Cruinne (The World Irish dancing Championships).

These championships involve schools all over the world, from more than 20 nations and six continents, that bring their best dancers to the world stage. Dancers, who have qualified for the event through their regional or national competitions, will come together for these week long events to showcase their talent and dedication in front of the worldwide Irish dance community.

To host these premiere competitions, the committee works together to prepare and publish the relevant syllabi for all teachers, parents and dancers and highlight the competition rules before each event. Members will work within the budget laid down by the Council of Management to plan each championship in detail including the receipt of entries, scheduling, day-to-day management during the competition, results delivery, awards presentations, and more.
